Year-round, value for money
Heat pumps have the advantage of working for you for 12 months of the year; they heat through the winter and cool through the summer, representing an excellent value for money appliance. They work by a unique refrigeration process which extracts latent heat from the outside air and then channels it through a series of pipework, into your home. The great thing is that this process also works in reverse, and allows excess heat to be ‘pumped out’ in the hot summer months (commonly known as air conditioning).
Unbeatable energy efficiency
Heat pumps are more efficient than any other form of heating appliance that you can put in your home; in winter they produce up to 4 units of heat for every unit of electricity used.
Easy to use and very convenient
At the push of a button, you are able to increase or decrease the temperature of your room. Heat pumps can heat up or cool down a room within minutes. When the room reaches your preferred temperature, it will maintain that temperature for as long as you require it to. All our heat pumps are easily programmable to turn on and off at various times of the day to suit your lifestyle... remember, there’s no worse feeling than getting up in the morning to a freezing cold house… and why should you!
Clean, safe and environmentally friendly
Heat pumps can be safely left on while you’re out or asleep; there are no flames or hot elements to pose a fire risk or burning. Heat pumps don’t create smoke, ashes or other waste material. Cleaning is very simple and required only occasionally. It is however an option to take out our ‘once yearly maintenance plan’, which is a good way to make sure that your heat pump is performing correctly, and maintaining it's peak output performance. We will also clean your filters and service as necessary.

Home Insulation
Whilst we advocate the use of heat pump technology, any source of heating in your home is potentially wasted if you don’t have sufficient insulation to keep that heat in for as long as possible. It is only in recent times that Kiwis (and the building regulations) have recognised the importance of good insulation in homes and the workplace. Think about it… would you want to pay to heat a building and leave all the doors and windows open? Well, that’s pretty much what you’re doing if you don’t have adequate insulation, or if your house is draughty!
Insulation is as important as heating! If you have a well insulated home, you will need a smaller heat pump than if you have a poorly insulated home of the same dimensions. Therefore it will cost far less to heat or cool your home; moreover, you will be able to maintain a comfortable living temperature without dreading the thought of getting a huge bill at the end of the month!
Just think about this. There are ‘super efficient’ homes that can be heated by a single light bulb! This is insulation efficiency taken to the extreme. It is, however, impractical for most of us, especially for existing houses. You can make a tremendous difference by retrofitting insulation in most cases. The important thing here is that it must be done correctly and to a high standard, otherwise it will be a waste of money and just won’t perform as it should, if at all. There are so many forms of insulation available but it is sometimes hard to know which products will perform best for you. If you are unsure, take professional independent advice and don’t be swayed by fast talking salesmen who may be biased towards the only product which they sell.
When we install your heat pump, we will be only too glad to offer you free advice and we can recommend options for you regarding the installation of quality products which will best suit your needs. We do work in with a preferred installer of loft and floor insulation but we also have a list of other companies for such things as wall insulation and new doors/windows, who we would be happy to recommend.
